In the middle of Asia, along the fabled Silk Road, lies a land full of mountains, valleys, rivers and lakes. This frontier area, marking the borderlands of China and the former Soviet Union, contains descendants from thousands of minority people who fled China after a failed uprising against their Chinese rulers in the 19th century. Now, almost 150 years later, these descendents maintain their ethnic identity and cultural heritage, still straddling the mountains which divide China and the former Soviet Union.
In the past few years, the JESUS film was translated and dubbed into the local language. This is the first movie in their ethnic tongue! The first showings brought amazement by community leaders, and the film has been passed through villages and across borders. Still, very few people have seen or heard of JESUS.
Our team will work among village and towns people. Activities will include:
- Teaching conversational English.
- Teaching computer skills.
- Participating in sporting events at village schools.
- Giving copies of the JESUS film to families and people we meet.
- Sharing how Jesus has changed our lives, using our personal relationships.
